It is a unique historical and ethnographic site situated on the old Romanesque bridge over the River Miñor, where a cruceiro bearing the image of Saint Telmo – the patron saint of sailors and traditionally linked to the construction of the bridge – and a ‘peto de ánimas’ beneath its arches, depicting the souls in purgatory, have been preserved. This place, steeped in legends and popular beliefs, was for centuries the setting for fertility rituals linked to the river’s waters and the magical traditions of Galicia.
