Avenida dos Aliados is one of Porto’s most important and iconic areas. Located in the heart of the city, this grand avenue connects Praça da Liberdade with Porto City Hall, making it a focal point for social, cultural and political life. It is lined with majestic early 20th-century buildings, many of which feature architectural styles such as Neoclassical and Modernist.
Along the avenue are historic hotels, cafés, banks and institutional buildings that reflect the city’s elegance and history. At its northern end stands the imposing town hall building, with its tall tower dominating the square. Avenida dos Aliados is also the venue for major events and festivities in Porto, such as sporting celebrations, concerts and public gatherings.
