CAMINO FRANCÉS DESDE SARRIA
Iglesia Parroquial de San Tirso de Palas de Rei
Beautiful 12th-century Romanesque church in Palas de Rei that still has its original facade.
Built at the end of the 12th century, the only part of the original temple that remains is the Romanesque façade, which stands out for its semicircular arch with two archivolts supported by columns decorated with leaves and plant motifs.
The rest of the building underwent renovations and extensions in the 20th century. The tower dates from this period, specifically 1955. The walls feature a combination of granite ashlars and masonry sections.
The church is mentioned in 897 as a donation to Lugo Cathedral and has served a religious function ever since, first for pilgrims and now for the inhabitants of the area.
