ETAPA 3: PALAS DE REI - ARZÚA

Etapa larga que avanza por frodosos bosques y preciosas aldeas que invitan a disfrutar del Camino con tranquilidad
Today's stage is the longest on the French Way from Sarria to Santiago, and is also known as the “leg breaker.” The nearly 30 kilometers between Palas de Rei and Arzúa consist of continuous ups and downs along the N-547 road, making it a difficult stage, especially after passing through the village of Melide, due to the numerous streams that cross the route. This is a stage in which beautiful villages and wooded trails are interspersed with asphalt. It is worth stopping in Leboreiro, one of the most beautiful villages on the stage, where you can admire its ancient Roman road, followed by medieval pilgrims, or the 12th-century Romanesque church. We will also pass through Melide, where we recommend you stop to try its famous “pulpo a feira” (octopus), one of the most famous dishes in Galician cuisine. As we make our way towards Arzúa, we will pass through thick forests of oak, pine, and eucalyptus trees, and small villages such as Boente and Ribadiso, a bucolic and charming spot by the river, where many pilgrims stop to rest. The stage ends in Arzúa, best known for its cheeses and honey. This charming town has numerous cafés and restaurants where you can sample local products.
