ETAPA 5 O PEDROUZO - SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

Última etapa del Camino que conduce por senderos bien marcados hasta culiminar en plena Plaza del Obradoiro
We begin the final and eagerly awaited stage of the French Way. We will encounter some gentle slopes, especially as we approach Monte do Gozo, but in general the terrain is manageable. The trail features a mix of rural paths, forest tracks, and urban roads, especially as it approaches Santiago de Compostela. The highlights of the route are Lavacolla, a village where pilgrims traditionally washed themselves before entering Santiago, and Monte do Gozo, a hill offering the first view of the spires of Santiago Cathedral. We will enter the city of Santiago de Compostela from the outskirts, passing through the neighborhoods of San Lázaro and Fontiñas. As we approach Calle de San Pedro, we will enter the historic center of Santiago, with its cobbled streets and squares. We will end at Plaza del Obradoiro, next to the main façade of the Cathedral: located in the heart of the city, it is the arrival point for pilgrims on the Camino.
