Galician nature, peaceful paths, and historic villages mark the beginning of the most popular stretch of the Camino de Santiago.

This stage presents no significant difficulties; while there are frequent changes in elevation, they remain moderate. It promises a rewarding walk, allowing us to enjoy the countryside and small villages, cross rivers via medieval bridges, and discover numerous ecclesiastical landmarks. We set out from one of the most popular starting points for pilgrims wishing to complete the final 100 km to Santiago and earn the *Compostela* certificate. After passing through the town's historic center and crossing the medieval bridge, the route continues through natural landscapes. We make our way through rural Galicia—amidst meadows and lush oak and chestnut forests—passing through many small villages. Some of these offer services for pilgrims, such as Barbadelo, Rente, and Ferreiros, the latter being the site of the 100-kilometer marker to Santiago de Compostela. The route concludes with a descent into Portomarín, a town known for its unique history of relocation after its old town center was submerged during the construction of the Belesar reservoir. We enter the town via its old medieval bridge. Portomarín offers numerous cafés, small shops, and restaurants, as well as a full range of services for pilgrims.
