Rabanal del Camino
This small village, with its traditional stone and timber architecture, is notable for being a key landmark for pilgrims travelling along the French Way.
Linked to the Camino since its inception, in the Middle Ages it was home to several hospices for pilgrims, and there is documented evidence of the presence of the Knights Templar, who were of great importance throughout the region during the Middle Ages. The tradition of hospitality continues to this day, as the town is home to several hostels. For those wishing to explore the local heritage, the Church of the Assumption is a must-see; dating from the 12th century, it retains its simple, unadorned structure, making it a fine example of what churches of this type were like in the Middle Ages.

Today’s stage reaches an altitude of 1,500 metres, so in winter you need to be well prepared to tackle it. The effort is rewarded with a unique panoramic view.
Ponferrada

STAGE 3 PONFERRADA - VILAFRANCA DEL BIERZO.
Today, the Camino runs through the Bierzo region—with mountains constantly in the background—along paths that are easier than those of previous days.
