Arcade is a coastal town situated on the Vigo estuary, in the province of Pontevedra, known throughout Spain for the quality of its oysters, which are the star attraction of its local cuisine and the centrepiece of its traditional oyster festival, which attracts numerous visitors every spring. As well as its strong seafaring heritage, it is notable for its medieval bridge over the River Verdugo, its natural setting between the sea and the mountains, and its proximity to places such as Soutomaior and Redondela, making it a peaceful destination with strong links to gastronomic and nature tourism.
