The section of the Portuguese Way between Pontevedra and Caldas de Reis is a pleasant, flat rural walk that takes you deep into the heart of the Rías Baixas, surrounded by lush oak forests and extensive Albariño vineyards. The route begins by crossing the historic Puente del Burgo bridge in Pontevedra and runs alongside the Alba Marshes nature reserve, before passing through picturesque traditional villages such as San Amaro and Tivo, which offer plenty of facilities and places to rest for pilgrims. The walk comes to an idyllic end in the historic town of Caldas de Reis after crossing the medieval Bermaña Bridge. There, the day’s grand finale is its thermal tradition, epitomised by the Fuente de las Burgas, where walkers soothe their tired feet by immersing them in its comforting medicinal waters.
