Chapel of St William

Chapel of St William

The Chapel of San Guillermo is famous for the “pedra dos cadrís”, a fertility ritual, and its spectacular views of the Atlantic.
The Chapel of San Guillermo is a small sanctuary situated in a stunning natural setting, very close to the sea and surrounded by the wild landscapes characteristic of the Costa da Morte. Its location, amidst rocks and Atlantic vegetation, lends it a mystical and secluded atmosphere that makes it a very special place. It is particularly well known for the ‘pedra dos cadrís’, a rock associated with ancient fertility rituals. According to tradition, women wishing to have children must pass under the stone nine times to attract fertility. This blend of pagan and religious beliefs, together with its breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, makes this spot a unique place steeped in history, legend and symbolism.
