Mount Pindo, known as the ‘Celtic Olympus’, is renowned for its granite formations, rich folklore and significance as a natural and cultural site in Galicia.
Mount Pindo, located in Carnota, is known as the ‘Celtic Olympus’ due to the wealth of legends surrounding it. Since ancient times, it has been regarded as a sacred place, linked to ancient cults and popular traditions of Galicia. Throughout history, its difficult access made it a refuge in times of conflict, including during the Napoleonic invasion. Its granite landscape, with unique shapes sculpted by erosion, dominates the coast and offers spectacular views of the Atlantic. Today it is one of Galicia’s most iconic natural areas, prized for its geological, cultural and scenic value, as well as for the hiking trails that allow visitors to explore its unique surroundings.
