Stage Maceda - Montederramo

Stage Maceda - Montederramo

The stage from Maceda to Montederramo follows part of the Roman *Via Nova*, meaning we walk in the footsteps of history.

Before describing the stage, it is worth noting that there are hardly any places to stock up on supplies along the way; therefore, you must set out from Maceda with everything needed to complete the journey. You will traverse the Sierra de San Mamede for most of the route—an area that can be challenging in winter due to the risk of snow but offers stunning panoramic views during the rest of the year. A highlight midway through the stage is the natural viewpoint at Monte Pedroso; reaching it requires a slight detour, but it is well worth the effort. Upon arriving in Montederramo, you have the opportunity to visit the monastery where the "Rouoyra Sacrata" is mentioned for the first time.
